Michael (aka rubarabadom) and I spent a very nice Valentine's Day together. And not only Valentine's Day, it was our 3rd anniversary too. We had lunch at Lafayette Brew Co., which is where we had our first date and where we've gone on every Valentine's Day since then. Michael had gotten me a very cute cup covered with multi-colored hearts a couple of weeks ago, which was my present, and I got him a card and made him a mix cd. When we got home we split a Russell Stover heart w/assorted chocolates.

And he bought me a Obama For President pin at VP which is very cute. They had Fred Thompson pins too, which I thought was very funny, they didn't even have the display up when he was still in the race.

I managed to hurt myself on a (lever) doorknob the other day by accidentally ramming the back of my arm, about midway between my shoulder and elbow, into the very end of it. I actually managed to give myself a bruise. ^.^;;

On Saturday went over to the west side to see Juno. It was awesome. Very funny, everyone was really good in it and the music was great, I liked it just as much as Knocked Up and would definitely buy it. Then we stopped by Dick's Bodacious Barbecue for lunch and ended up stuffed silly. Michael bought me my Christmas presents at Game Stop while we were there, Labrador Retriever and Friends and Dragon Quest Adventures: Rocket Slime, both games for the DS. (I have a Welsh Corgi named Ein on the first one). Our last stop was Borders where we picked up 5 for 4 manga: Presents #1, Portus, Nightmares For Sale #1, The Yagyu Ninja Scrolls #1 and xxxHolic #9.

On Wednesday we went to a dentist's appointment for Michael and on the way back we stopped at Tuesday Morning, a great store with extremely low prices, usually at least 50% off other stores. We had lunch at MCL Restaurant before going home, which was pretty good, but FULL of old people. Now I know what it feels like to be in a nursing home.

Manga Rec: Girl Got Game by Shizuru Seino: "Kyo is excited about attending Seisyu High School. The girls' uniforms are so cute that they're in all the magazines. But when the package arrives, she gets a shock: it's a boy's uniform. Seisyu is also famous for its men's basketball team, and Kyo's father wants her to live out his dream to play in the NBA. She just wants to be a normal girl, but she wants to make her dad happy, too, so she finds herself masquerading as a guy, living in the dorms with her teammates, and trying to figure out how to manage the shared bathroom situation. The novel is a winning combination of sports action, gender comedy, and school drama. Kyo has a contentious relationship with her roommate, Chiharu, who mocks her for being too short to play basketball and then gets flustered because he finds his "male" teammate attractive." from amazon.com I loved it! Did anyone else watch Garth Marenghi's Darkplace on Adult Swim last night? I don't know if that was the first time they've shown it or not, but I loved it. Great spoof, reminded me a lot of Tales From The Darkside, especially the music.

I realized I hadn't been using the full potential of the local public library after I looked up a couple of movies on their website. JC, they have practically every movie I could want, except for the rare or foreign ones. We're going to go from 3 at a time to 1 from Netflix so this is awesome. They also have a lot more music CDs than I had thought, and some computer games that have come out in recent years and I've actually heard of.

I supposed I should post a list of Christmas "loot", even if it is late:

From Mom: My Left Eye Sees Ghosts and The Fifth Element on DVD, the first Transmetropolitan, a small statue of the Buddha, a Grateful Dead t-shirt for Michael and a fondue pot (:D). Also, a buttload of incense.
From Sarah: Nana 5&6
From Michael's Parents (for both of us): Cash, two Target gift cards, Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel plushies, and shirts for Michael (and also a hand-me-down hand mixer)
From Jill (not gifts but hand-me-downs, still as good, also for both of us): A 40G portable hard drive (with no power cord, alas), Cubs hats, a colander, a set of three mixing bowls and various utensils.

I haven't gotten my gift from Michael yet, Heroes Season 1 on DVD, right as I was about to order it from Amazon.com it jumped from $25 to $45, those rat bastards. ;__; I ordered Michael's presents yesterday, he doesn't know what I got him, heehee.

New Years Eve was pretty cool, we got drunk on chocolate amaretto, Kahlua chocolate latte and toasted with mandarin pineapple pomegranate wine coolers after watching Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin count down on CNN. We didn't have nearly as many snacks as usual, not having any time to shop after we finally deposited our money in the bank, so we ordered LovShack calzones and then snacked on Chex mix, popcorn and cold udon noodles which we dipped in sauce.

And it is again time for my STUPENDOUS, FABULOUS, ULTRA-AWESOME (okay, maybe not) List Of Books I Have Read This Year. Apparently I was one of the winners of the Chibi Robo: Park Patrol (it's a DS game) sweepstakes, because yesterday in the mail I recieved a Blue Spruce sapling. I was totally not expecting it. It's so cute! I didn't get to put it in a pot yesterday, because the potting soil was outside (and frozen), but I was able to first thing this morning. It'll have to stay in there until the ground thaws in spring (btw, who the hell sends out a sapling in winter?!). :)
